These are a few of my favorite things...

Estas son algunas de mis cosas favoritas...

from The Sound of Music: My Favorite Things

Raindrops on roses,

And whiskers on kittens,

Bright copper kettles

And warm woolen mittens.

Brown paper packages

Tied up with string,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies,

And crisp apple strudel.

Doorbells and sleighbells

And schnitzel with noodles,

Wild geese that fly

With the moon on their wings,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes,

Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,

Silver white winters that melt into springs

These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites,

When the bee stings,

When I'm feeling sad.

I simply remember my favorite things,

And then I don't feel so bad!

Yes! What are your favorite things to learn about, to talk about? What do you want to be able to say in Spanish?

This is what will motivate you. Put it together with practice and action!

Topic ideas:

small talk

work talk

deep talk

greetings

asking for directions

ordering food

shopping

Practice random things to be able to say, like:

¿Dónde has estado toda mi vida? (Where have you been all my life?)

¿Cuándo volverás a casa? (When will you be home?)

Te ves bien hoy. (You look good today.)

¿Qué vamos a hacer para cenar? (What are we making for dinner?)

¿Qué tal tu día? ¿Qué has hecho hoy? o ¿Qué hiciste hoy? (How was your day? What did you do today?)

¿Cómo fue el entrenamiento de fútbol? (How was soccer practice?)

¿Qué tal las clases de piano? (How were piano lessons?)

It's great to be able to talk about yourself and ask others about themselves.

Some basic questions to ask and answer are:

¿Quién eres? (Who are you?)

¿A qué te dedicas? (What [job] do you do?)

¿Cómo eres? (What are you like?)

Niños: ¿Cuántos años tienes? (Children: How old are you?)

Niños: ¿En qué grado estás? (Children: What grade are you in?)

¿Qué te gusta hacer? (What do you like to do?)

¿Qué te gusta? (What do you like?)

Por ejemplo, estas son mis respuestas: (For example, here are my answers:)

Ahora te toca a ti. Haz tu propio "Sobre mí". (Now it’s your turn. Make your own “About me.")
